Lake NottelyLake Nottely is a 4,180 acre TVA reservoir in Union County, near the town of Blairsville, Ga. It is a small mountain lake with clear deep water and an abundant striper population. Most stripers will weigh around 6-15lbs. The number of fish over 20lbs. are low but trophy-size specimens, including a few exceeding 40lbs continue to be caught. The current lake record is 50lbs. 4oz. This fish, as well as past lake record stripers out of Lake Nottely were caught in the Spring. Fish of this size are rare but catchable. I know where all Lake Nottely record stripers were caught and when. I am a great friend of the former two-time lake record holder on Lake Nottely. To me, Lake Nottely represents the best chance to catch the striper of your dreams. I freely admit it is a long shot but here in North Georgia, it is your best opportunity for a 40-50lb. fish. The stripers are there and are most vulnerable in the spring. I only fish Lake Nottely in the months of April and May. I hit them with very large Gizzard Shad and very heavy gear. Due to the time and distance factor, my rates for Lake Nottely are higher than my normal rates. If you have the time and want a fishing adventure, Lake Nottely is the place for a chance at the striper of your dreams. |
